Two Charged In Sydney Area Robberies

Regional Police say two men are facing a total of eight charges after robberies in the Sydney area in January.

The robberies happened at Terrace Street Convenience and the Sydney River Subway in the evening hours of January 23rd.

Police say in both cases a man showed store clerks a knife, demanded money and then ran away.

They say 31-year-old George Gregory Gilmet from Glace Bay and 30-year-old Nicholas Brian Harris from Mira Gut were arrested yesterday.

Both men are charged with two counts of armed robbery.

Gilmet is also charged with two counts each of Committing an Indictable Offence while Wearing a Disguise and Possession of a Weapon.
