Two Cape Bretoners Being Awarded Bravery Medals, This Afternoon

Two Cape Bretoners are among several Atlantic Canadians being awarded bravery medals from Governor Gen. David Johnston in Moncton, New Brunswick, this afternoon.

Karl Curtis will accept a medal of bravery on behalf of his late wife Anne Michelle Curtis from Lingan.

She died in August of 2015 after saving a group of children from a riptide at the campground beach near Broad Cove Marsh in Inverness County.

Liam Bernard from Whycocomagh will receive a star of courage, today.

He rescued two passengers trapped inside a burning truck near Melford outside of Whycocomagh in September.
