The Transportation Safety Board is due to conduct an evaluation today after a fatal plane crash in Middle River on the weekend.
RCMP say the ultra-light plane, carrying a 54-year-old man and a 26-year-old man, crashed into a barn shortly after takeoff on Saturday evening.
The older man died at the scene while the younger man was airlifted to hospital in Halifax.
The name of the man killed in the crash has not been released because of a new RCMP policy of not releasing the names of victims in collisions.
However, the chief of the local fire department says both men in the plane are from the area.
By early yesterday morning there were few visible signs of the accident, apart from sheets of plywood where the plane crashed into the barn.
RCMP say their investigation is continuing although they add there’s no suspicion of alcohol being involved.
They add an autopsy will be carried out on the victim.
Police have no update on the condition of the 26-year-old man.
