Travel Disruptions Ahead of Nor’Easter

People planning on catching a flight today should check ahead with their airline.

Airlines are already cancelling flights ahead of a nor’easter that’s headed for the region.

There are a number of cancellations for later today at the McCurdy Sydney Airport.

Cancellations are also piling up at the Halifax Stanfield Airport and  the Fredericton Airport.

Environment Canada has issued a host of weather warnings the Maritimes.

Meanwhile, Marine Atlantic says high winds and sea conditions have forced yet more changes to its schedule.

The Crown Corporation has now cancelled all today’s crossings from North Sydney and Port aux Basques until tomorrow morning.

However it says it expects tomorrow morning’s crossings will also be affected by the weather.

There are now storm and ice pressure warnings in effect for the Cabot Strait.

Seas outside the ice edges are expected to build to between 6 and 8 metres, near midnight.
