Three new fire trucks have joined volunteer fire departments around the Regional Municipality.
The two pumper trucks and one engine have been assigned to departments in Florence, Westmount, and Marion Bridge, and come with a price tag of $1.2 million.
Regional Fire Chief Stephen Seth says the new trucks represent one of the first steps toward creating a more unified fire service.
He says other departments will also be in line for equipment upgrades and other resources.
There are currently 34 fire departments located in the Regional Municipality, the vast majority staffed by volunteers.
A 2016 study found the regional fire service was not operating in a unified fashion.
