Three Cape Breton men were awarded the Nova Scotia Medal Of Bravery today after rescuing two snowmobilers last winter.
Richard MacPhee from Boularderie and Ryan O’Shea and Scott Rafuse from Sydney responded when they learned two fellow snowmobilers hadn’t returned from a trip in the Cape Breton Highlands on February 14th.
They were able to find one of the men and took part in a search and rescue operation to find the other.
Also given the award today was Gerrid Hunt, who saved a man from a burning home during a fatal house fire in Lower Sackville last year.
59 Nova Scotians have received the Medal of Bravery since 2008.
