Tentative Deals at Canada Post

There will be no strike or lockout at Canada Post.

Federal Labour Minister MaryAnn Mihychuk says the Post Office and the Canadian Union of Postal Workers have reached tentative agreements.

Mihychuk adds the agreements were reached voluntarily but gives no other details about the deals.

Both sides had been far apart on key issues including pension changes for new employees and pay scales for rural postal workers.

The mediated negotiations were extended twice since the weekend.

Mihychuk says both sides were in talks nearly around the clock at the request of the special mediator appointed on Friday.
