Teens Rescued After ATV Stranded In Woods

Regional Police say two 17 year-old boys were rescued early this morning after their ATV got stuck in the woods in stormy weather near the McCurdy Sydney Airport.

Police say they were called to the back of the NSCC Marconi Campus at about 8 o’clock last night to reports from one of the boys’ mothers that their ATV got stuck while traveling on trails between Dominion and Sydney.

Dispatch Operators were able to find the boys’ location through their cell phone signal, but police say officers and airport staff were hampered in their rescue effort by a body of water they couldn’t cross on foot.

Search and rescue workers went into the woods on an ARGO vehicle and found the boys at about 1 o’clock this morning.

Police say the boys were wet and cold, but not injured.

They were brought to the Regional Hospital as a precaution.
