The Nova Scotia Teachers Union says teachers will begin to work-to-rule on Monday.
The move comes after conciliation talks broke down between the teachers and the province on Friday.
The Union says the work-to-rule campaign will mean teachers will not be involved in extra-curricular activities, including sports and Christmas concerts.
It also means teachers will arrive at work 20 minutes before school starts and leave 20 minutes after students are dismissed.
The union adds teachers will take attendance on paper and not perform clerical duties or collect money from students.
It goes on to say teachers will continue to teach and prepare lessons.
