Teachers Union Holding Strike Vote

The Nova Scotia Teachers Union says it will hold a strike vote on October 25th.

NSTU President Liette Doucet says the provincial executive met and unanimously recommended seeking a strike mandate from members.

Doucet goes on to say they need members to vote “yes” to a strike.

The strike vote comes after 70 percent of teachers who cast ballots voted to reject a second tentative contract offer, last week.

After the vote, Education Minister Karen Casey said the government will not be returning to the bargaining table with teachers.
