Teachers Holding Ratification Vote, Today

The province’s teachers are voting on a third tentative contract today, after province-wide school cancellations delayed the vote, yesterday.

The Teachers Union says online voting is starting at this hour and will run until 8:00, tonight.

It adds the results should be available by 9:00.

Meanwhile, there’s widespread speculation teachers will vote to reject the latest deal after turning down two others.

One of the major outstanding issues remains working conditions, and there’s talk many teachers feel the current offer doesn’t go far enough to address those concerns.

Teachers have been working-to-rule for all but one week since December 5th.
