Tanker Runs Aground Off Little Pond

The Coast Guard says it’s working with the owners of a tanker that ran aground off Little Pond near Florence, yesterday morning.

Six crew members were safely airlifted from the Arca 1 by military helicopter after the vessel lost engine power.

The tanker was on its way to Mexico with no cargo on board when it experienced mechanical difficulties.

Federal officials are monitoring the ship and there have been no reports of pollution.

They go on to say the ship’s hull has not been seriously damaged.

The vessel’s home port is Montreal.
