A tanker that ran aground near the mouth of Sydney Harbour remains in shallow water off Little Pond this morning after it was expected to be towed away, earlier this morning.
The Coast Guard says the owner of the Arca 1 has been asked to hire a contractor to remove the vessel.
It adds the salvage personnel have prepped the vessel for a tow operation.
It goes on to say the tanker may now be towed at the next high tide at 6:30, this evening.
Meanwhile, a team of investigators with the Transport Safety Board arrived in Cape Breton, yesterday.
An official says they’ll be doing a technical analysis to figure out what kind of mechanical failure left the boat adrift, and why it was sailing in a forecasted storm.
The Arca 1 was on its way from the Port of Montreal to Mexico when its engine failed on Sunday.
Some industry experts say it should never have been on the high seas because it was designed as a harbour vessel.
