Sydney Wendy’s Restaurant Facing Two Civil Suits

The Wendy’s restaurant in Sydney is facing two civil suits claiming it was negligent in failing to protect female employees from sexual assault by a supervisor.

The suit was filed in Nova Scotia Supreme Court by Halifax-based law firm Valent Legal.

The firm says the women involved in the suit were both minors at the time the assaults happened.

They say the supervisor was David MacDonald, who was arrested in August of last year and has since plead guilty to five counts of sexual assault.

The lawsuit says Wendy’s continued to employ MacDonald after police were made aware of the claims against him and one woman says MacDonald continued to sexually assault her until his arrest.

One of the women also claims she faced reduced hours, hostility and social exclusion at work after the police investigation.
