Sydney is one of five areas in the province chosen to participate in the Canadian Health Measures Survey.
The national survey by Stats Canada, in partnership with the provincial Department of Health takes in a total of about 1700 randomly selected households.
The other regions taking part are Cumberland County, Lunenburg, Sackville/Bedford, and West Hants.
Data from the locations will be combined with data already collected in Halifax in 2023 to produce provincial estimates of the oral health status of Nova Scotians between the ages of 1 and 79.
A temporary examination centre for the Sydney survey will be set up at the Simon Hotel on the Esplanade in Sydney from January 14th to 18th.
