Sydney Mines Family Displaced By Fire

A family of six has been displaced from their Sydney Mines home after a fire, yesterday afternoon.

The Red Cross says the older two-storey house at 607 Main Street was extensively damaged in the blaze that was reported shortly after 4:00.

It adds there were no injuries in the fire and a woman and five children ranging in age from 3 to 20 are staying with relatives for now.

Red Cross volunteers helped with food and other emergency supplies while the family waits for an assessment from insurers.
