A 31-year-old Sydney man is scheduled to appear in Sydney Provincial Court today for allegedly stealing a tractor. Cape Breton Regional Police say the tractor was taken from Belmac Supplies in Sydney. They add that a witness contacted the owner of the business after seeing the tractor leaving the parking lot, and the owner was able to confirm that a tractor was missing. Police go on to say that the tractor was spotted heading towards Ferry Street. While officers were searching the area, they received further information that the tractor had driven by Open Hearth Park and towards Frederick Street. Police stopped the tractor on Frederick Street, verified it to match information as the one missing from Belmac Supplies, and arrested the driver. After further investigation, police charged the man with Theft over 5,000 dollars, Possession of Property Obtained by Crime and two Breaches. The suspect was held in police custody pending today’s court appearance.
