Sydney Included In SPCA Merger

The SPCA says it’s merging its11 branches in the province, including the one in Sydney.

The Society says the change will allow it to focus on programs, better protect financial assets and provide better opportunities to grow provincial fundraising initiatives.

SPCA CEO Elizabeth Murphy describes the merger as a collaborative effort between all of the SPCA Branches.

She adds a few aspects of the SPCA branches will remain separate under the merger and goes on to say all of the money raised in a specific community will stay in that community.

Murphy says individual branches will continue to have the ability to accept donations and issue tax receipts.
