Sydney Family Homeless After Fire

At Sydney woman and her 14-year-old son are among 13 people in the Maritimes left homeless by fires on the weekend.

 

The Red Cross says their home on 1919 George Street was gutted by fire at around 12:30, yesterday morning.

 

There was no one home at the time of the blaze and there were no injuries.

 

A third family member is working out West.

 

There’s no word on the cause.

 

The Red Cross is providing emergency assistance to the family.

 

Elsewhere on the weekend, a man and his adult son lost their house and belongings in a blaze overnight Saturday in Ambercrombie, Pictou County.

 

And, in Dieppe, New Brunswick, a fire yesterday afternoon damaged a four-storey apartment building, forcing several tenants from the building.
