The Sydney Co-op store on Prince Street is closing after 78 years in business. The store’s 31 employees got the news yesterday morning when they arrived for work. Management says the store has been losing money for years and there was no choice but to close. However, the Medicine Shoppe pharmacy in the store will stay open. Co-op officials say they expect the store’s final day will be Nov. 21. The Co-op will start a liquidation sale for members on Thursday and for the general public next week.
