Sydney Academy On Lockdown

There are now reports that a male student from Sydney Academy has been taken into police custody as the school remains on lockdown, at this hour.

The Cape Breton-Victoria Regional School Board says police got a weapons complaint involving the school, this morning.

The Board says all students and staff are safe as 20 to 30 police officers are searching the school.

Sydney Academy principal Kevin Deveaux has sent an e-mail out to parents telling them the school is in a lockdown situation.

He adds no one is allowed to enter the building and is asking people not to come to the school.

He goes on to say the school will let people know when the lockdown has ended.

The Board says police will determine when the lockdown should be lifted.
