Suspended Police Officer Found Guilty Of Assault

A suspended Cape Breton Regional Police officer has been found guilty of assaulting his wife.

Kristopher Karl Planetta’s trial on two counts of assault wrapped up earlier this month.

A judge found him guilty on both counts today.

Planetta’s estranged wife testified during the trial her husband pushed her on one occasion and bruised her arms on another.

He testified last month that he did push his wife but he also says she hit him twice in the face with a closed fist on separate occasions during the time the couple was together.

Planetta is continuing his release and is due to be sentenced on June 23rd.
