Strang Says Vaccinations Making Progress

Dr. Robert Strang says the province is making some faster-than-expected progress on vaccination.

Strang told reporters today the province is ahead of schedule for second doses and some people will be invited to get their second shot 2-4 weeks earlier than expected.

Those groups include people working in healthcare and others in descending order of age.

Strang also says people who got either the Pfizer or Moderna vaccine will be able to get the other as a second dose and studies are still underway to see if that will be possible for those who got the AstraZeneca shot.

The comments come on a day the province further expanded access to the Pfizer and Moderna shots that are now open to people 20 and over.

Strang says the vaccines will be open to everyone 12 and over by the end of the month.
