Storm Preparations Underway

Nova Scotia Power has opened its Emergency Operations Centre ahead of the coming storm.

NSP’s Storm Lead Sean Borden says they’re positioning crews across the province so they can respond to power outages as safely and quickly as possible.

However, he says because of the size of the weather system, the utility has not been able to line up as many crews from outside the province as it typically would.

Meanwhile, the province’s Emergency Management Office says people should prepare an emergency kit with non-perishable food, water, medications and a flashlight.

It says they should also make sure their gas tanks are full and their devices are charged.
