Stop Work Order Issued For Donkin Mine After Roof Fall

There’s been another roof fall at the Donkin Mine but the provincial Labour Department says no one was injured.

The roof fall happened over the weekend and there’s a stop work order in place for part of the mine.

The Labour Department’s Senior Director of Inspections and Compliance Scott Nauss says workers discovered the roof fall when they came in for backshift on Sunday.

He says the Department is now investigating.

Nauss says the Department has ordered the mine to clean up the area where the fall happened and to do its own investigation of why the fall happened and how similar falls can be prevented.
