A Sydney Mines man was arrested after a brief standoff involving a gun, yesterday afternoon.
Regional Police were called to a home on Johnstone Crescent at around 2:00.
They add when officers arrived, a man in his mid-40s who lives in the home was standing in the doorway with a long-barreled gun and went inside.
After police tried unsuccessfully to reach the man by phone, the Emergency Response Team was called in and the people in the area were told to stay inside their homes.
Police say the man came out and surrendered at around 4:00.
A woman was also inside the home at the time of the incident, but police aren’t revealing her relationship to the man.
The man was taken into custody and the incident remains under investigation.
