St. Alphonsus Up For Sale

St. Alphonsus Church in Victoria Mines is up for sale.

The move comes after the Diocese of Antigonish says the local group trying to save it hasn’t come up with a business plan.

The Stone Church Restoration Society wants to turn the church into a community centre and possibly a wedding chapel.

Society spokesperson Melanie Sampson says that someone has put an offer on the building and adds the Diocese is asking them to put in an offer too.

She adds they’ll now ramp up their efforts to try and buy the building.

Sampson says the sale price for the building is 49-thousand dollars.

However, she adds the Society plans to put in an offer for far less than that amount.
