Sixth Suspect Arrested in Beating Case

Cape Breton Regional Police have arrested a sixth person in connection to a brutal beating of a homeless man in North Sydney.

 

Police say 22-year-old Corey Patrick Blinkorn was picked up without incident at a home on Rateau Street in Sydney Mines at around 5:30, yesterday evening.

 

There had been a Canada-wide warrant for his arrest.

 

Blinkhorn faces charges of Attempted Murder, Aggravated Assault, wearing a disguise while committing an Offence and Impersonating a Police Officer.

 

He’s being held at the police lockup and is due in court at a later date.

 

48-year-old Shawn Curtis Jack was found bloodied and bruised in the parking lot of the Atlantic Superstore in North Sydney shortly before midnight on July 14th.  

 

He’s now in a Halifax hospital in serious condition with head and other injuries.

 

Meanwhile bail hearings for two others facing charges the case are due to take place, today.

22-year-old Jennifer Lynn MacLeod from Boularderie and a 16-year-old girl from North Sydney each face charges of aggravated assault, wearing a disguise (a bandana) in committing an offence and two counts of breaching court orders.
