Six Displaced After Sydney Fire

The Red Cross says six adults have been temporarily displaced from their homes after a fire in downtown Sydney, last night.

It adds the blaze in a three-storey building at 289 Bentinck Street was reported at around 11:00.

It goes on to say the blaze was quickly contained to one unit but sent smoke into other areas of the wood-frame house with several apartments.

Red Cross volunteers have arranged emergency lodging, food and other basics for four of the tenants.

The other two are staying with relatives or friends for now.

There were no injuries from the fire and the cause is not known.
