SIRT Investigating After Meat Cove Arrest

The province’s Serious Incident Response Team or SiRT is investigating after RCMP arrested a 57-year-old woman in Meat Cove, yesterday morning.

The SIRT says Ingonish RCMP were called to a home in Meat Cove at around 11:00 after getting a complaint about a firearm being pointed.

They add the woman suffered a broken arm after a struggle between her and the arresting officer.

She was taken to the Cape Breton Regional Hospital in Sydney for treatment and the SIRT was contacted.

The police watchdog says two investigators will travel to Cape Breton this morning to begin an investigation.
