SIRT Clears Regional Police Officers After Claims About Missing Money

The province’s police watchdog has cleared Cape Breton Regional Police Officers in a case involving claims about missing money.

The Serious Incident Response Team says it was contacted in the late summer of 2019 by a member of the public who claimed Regional Police officers took an amount of money from them that was more than what was reported.

The SIRT says its investigation began that day and took 31 months.

It says it didn’t find any grounds to believe any of the officers involved committed a criminal offence.
