SIRT Clears CBRP Officer

The province’s police watchdog has cleared a Regional Police officer after a man claimed he was injured during the course of an arrest last year.

The Serious Incident Response Team says it was contacted by Regional Police on February 1st after police got a letter from a third party about a man suffering serious injuries during an arrest on August 29th.

The SIRT says the arrest happened when police were investigating a report of a stolen ATV.

It says there was no medical evidence to support the man’s claims and he wasn’t admitted to hospital for any treatment.

The SIRT says based on those findings there are no grounds for charges against the officer.
