Sex Offences Trial for Former CBU Administrator to Resume, Today

The trial for a Glace Bay man and former CBU administrator charged with sex offences involving an underage girl is due to continue today.

60-year-old John Shea McInnis faces counts of sexual assault, sexual interference and invitation to sexual touching involving a person under the age of 16.

MacInnis is accused of committing the offences between January of 2000 and December of 2006.

During his trial in June,MacInnis’ wife and two daughters sharply contradicted the evidence of the complainant who’s now 22.

Her name is banned from publication along with any information that could identify her.

In June, Prosecutor Steve Melnick completed his case after calling 14 witnesses while defence lawyer David Iannetti has now called three witnesses.

MacInnis is expected to take the stand when the trial resumes, today.
