ServiCom employees left work yesterday empty-handed again.
The Sydney call centre’s employees’ pays are already more than a week late due to a bankruptcy filing by the centre’s parent company.
New Jersey-based JNET Communications was granted an order on Wednesday allowing ServiCom to cut cheques to its American and Canadian employees.
However, ServiCom financer Bank of America won’t release the money to be dispersed to Canadian banks.
Site director Todd Riley says he ordered and signed paycheques for most of the nearly 700 employees before being told about the bank’s decision.
He says even if the bank was to release the money over the weekend, it wouldn’t be until Monday at the earliest before employees could expect their pay.
