Sentencing For Sydney Man After Fatal South Bar Crash

A Sydney man who lied to Regional Police about who was driving a vehicle involved in a fatal South Bar crash is due to be sentenced today.

30 year-old Liam Alexander MacNeil has pleaded guilty to a single count of public mischief.

He was charged after later admitting he was driving the suburban that left the road in September of last year, not William Francis Gittens from Dutch Brook.

40 year-old Gittens was killed in the crash after he was thrown from the vehicle.

Both the Crown and defence are recommending an 18-month conditional sentence for MacNeil.
