Second Witness Says Barrett Confessed To Killing MacKinnon

A second witness says Thomas Ted Barrett confessed to killing Brett Elizabeth MacKinnon at the Glace Bay man’s trial, this morning.

Chris Andrews says Brett MacKinnon was a friend of his and adds he also knows Barrett through the drug scene.

This morning on the witness stand, Andrews says Barrett told him he beat MacKinnon and chocked her after he caught her taking drugs.

Andrews says Barrett also told him MacKinnon’s body was wrapped up in a carpet in his house and adds Barrett also talked about putting MacKinnon’s body in the trunk of his car.

Defence lawyer Brian Bailey tried to discredit Andrew’s testimony by pointing out the man’s drug addiction, criminal record and inconsistencies between his testimony and statements made to police.

The remains of the 21 year-old MacKinnon were found in 2008, two years after she was reported missing.

On Tuesday, the court saw video testimony from Sheryl Flynn from Sydney Mines who also said Barrett confessed committing the crime to her.

Flynn has since died from a drug overdose.
