Scotchtown Native Critically Injured in Alberta Explosion

A Scotchtown native is the man injured in an explosion at an oilsands plant near Fort McMurray on Friday.

Journeyman millwright Dave Williams remains in critical condition in hospital after the blast at the Nexen Long Lake Project.

His co-worker was killed in the blast that happened as the pair was conducting maintenance in a building at the plant.

Family members say 28 year-old Williams suffered third-degree burns and is in an induced coma.

They add his parents and three brothers are at his side.

The Nexen Long Lake facility remains shut down while investigators examine the cause of the explosion.
