Schools Reopen, Today

Students in the Cape Breton Victoria Regional School Board will be back in class today after being off for two days after Monday’s storm.

The exception is students at Brookland Elementary in Sydney whose school suffered flood damage.

Students at Etoile de L’Acadie in Sydney will also be off until next week because their school also experienced flooding.

The Cape Breton Victoria Board says there will be some transportation changes today because some roads were damaged by flooding.

It adds buses will not be travelling on Brickyard Road, Salmon River Road, Hornes Road (between the bridge and the Marconi Trail), Broughton Road and Marconi Towers Road

Busses will be travelling 20 minutes early for students living on Beechmont Road.

And students that travel from the bus stop at the intersection of Whitney Avenue and Hospital Street in Sydney will now be picked up at the intersection of Whitney Avenue and High Street or Whitney Avenue and Centre Street.

The Board also says parents can also expect transportation delays because of localized road closures.
