The province also announced today families getting income assistance will see an increase to their August payments every year to help with back-to-school costs.
A one-time increase to the benefit was announced last year and the increase is now being made permanent.
Amounts for those eligible include $100 for every child from five- to 12-years-old and $200 for those 13 to 18.
Dependent children attending pre-primary who turn four by December 31st may also be eligible, along with 19- and 20-year-old dependent youth attending high school.
The province says it’s spending $331,000 on the increased payment.
