School Cancelled Over Weapons Threat

The Cape Breton Victoria Regional Centre for Education has cancelled classes at all schools today after Regional Police say there was a credible weapons threat to students and staff.

Classes are also cancelled today at Etoile de l’Acadie in Sydney and Regional Centre offices are closed for the day.

Spokesperson Michelle MacLeod says the Centre and multiple schools got the threat.

But she won’t say how many schools, or the nature of the threat.

More than 12,000 students and about 2,500 staff are affected by today’s closures.
