School Board Rejects Hub School for Louisbourg, Again

The Cape Breton Victoria Regional School Board has once again turned down a proposal from a group looking to turn the school in Louisbourg into a so-called hub school.

The George D. Lewis Hub School Society presented a proposal for a pilot project to the Board in January.

The move came after the Board agreed to hear new information from the Society after first turning down its proposal in October.

However, the Board says the latest proposal is outside the scope of the Hub School guidelines.

As a result, the School Board says George D. Lewis School will close in June.

Hub schools help offset costs by offering space in their buildings to community groups and government organizations.
