A judge officially sentenced former Dal medical student William Sandeson this morning after he was found guilty last month in the death of 22-year-old Taylor Samson.
The jury deliberated for a total of 22 hours before returning a guilty verdict on a charge of first degree murder.
The conviction carries an automatic life sentence with no chance of parole for 25 years.
Sandeson will get credit for the 693 days he’s spent in custody since his arrest.
About 20 victim impact statements were presented to the court this morning from Taylor Samson’s family and friends.
Samson’s body has not been found.
But the court heard Sandeson lured Samson to his Halifax apartment and shot him dead during a drug deal in August of 2015.
Sandeson is appealing the conviction.
