Saccary Wants Local Job Fair For Donkin

Area Councillor Kevin Saccary wants the operators of the Donkin mine to hold a job fair in Cape Breton.

Last week, Kameron Coal held a job fair for Donkin in Grande Cache, Alberta where a coal mine shut down last month.

The company is also taking applications locally at the offices of Gardiner Mining and Resources in the People’s Mall in Glace Bay.

But Saccary says that’s not enough and adds he’s now requested a meeting with new Kameron Coal CEO James Bunn.

Meanwhile, local Donkin Mine spokesperson Tanya Collier MacDonald says whether the company will hold more job fairs for Donkin depends on what skill sets the company wants to attract.

She adds anyone who wants to apply for a job at Donkin can send their resumes to resumes@kameroncoal.com or to Wayne Sheller at wayne@gmar.ca.
