Rodger Cuzner Announces Federal Funding

Cape Breton- Canso MP Rodger Cuzner announced more than a million dollars in federal funding at Cape Breton University’s Verschuren Centre, this morning.

The Verschuren Centre is getting nearly $750,000 for an 18-month project.

 It will create a pilot facility to convert underused seafood and agri-food processing waste into valuable mixtures.

 Northsyde Processing in North Sydney is getting a loan worth more than 293-thousand dollars.

 The company will use the money to set up a filtering system to remove shrimp shells out of the waste stream.

The material is used in various products ranging from bandages to diet supplements.
