River Ryan Man Facing Child Pornography Charges

A River Ryan man is scheduled to appear in provincial court in June on child pornography charges after a recent police investigation.   35 year-old Mathias Duncan MacKinnon is charged with accessing child pornography and possession of child pornography.   Police say the offences occurred between last October and February of this year.   MacKinnon was charged as part of an ongoing investigation by the Internet child exploitation unit with the Cape Breton Regional Police.   Police say they searched a home on Jan. 29 and seized computers and hardware.   MacKinnon has been released on conditions that include he have no contact with children under 16, unless they’re accompanied by a adult; he’s now allowed to access the Internet; and also has to stay away from areas where children are likely to gather, such as parks and playgrounds.   He is now scheduled to enter pleas to the charges on June 10th.
