Reserve Mines Man Charged With Sexually Assaulting Former Student Due Back In Court

A Reserve Mines man accused of sexually assaulting a girl who was his student is due back in court today for another plea hearing.

52 year-old Lawrence Robert Summerell faces two counts of sexual assault, two counts of luring a child under the age of 18 and a single count of sexual exploitation.

The charges date to between January and June of last year.

Summerell has been placed on administrative leave from his teaching job at Memorial High in Sydney Mines.

He’s been released on a number of conditions, including not possessing or using any computer or other electronic device.

His home is also subject to random searches by police.
