Regulators Rule Against Proposed Big Pond RV Park

The province’s Utility and Review Board has ruled against a proposed RV park and campground in Big Pond.

The Regional Municipality approved a zoning amendment for the project, but that was appealed by a number of people living in Big Pond.

They raised environmental concerns and claimed the park and campground would disrupt life in the quiet community.

The UARB says, when council approved the zoning amendment, it didn’t reasonably carry out the intention of the municipal planning strategy.

The board says a staff report to council contained some errors, and didn’t contain the actual text of the part of the municipal planning strategy being considered.

The municipality has yet to respond to the ruling.
