Regulators Approve Power Rate Hike

The Utility and Review Board has approved a 6.9% rate increase for Nova Scotia Power’s residential customers.

In a decision released today, the Board says the increase is effective immediately.

There will be another 6.9% increase next year.

The hike was agreed to in a settlement reached last year by consumer and business advocates and Nova Scotia Power.

Premier Tim Houston asked the UARB to reject the settlement.
