Regional Police Seek Suspicious Person

Regional Police are looking for a suspicious person after a 12-year-old girl reported a man approached her in Sydney Mines today.

Police say the girl was walking on Convent Street at about 11 this morning when a vehicle passed by her and then stopped suddenly.

They add the driver rolled down his window and tried to get the girl’s attention while following her onto Crescent Street.

Police go on to say the man then got out of the vehicle and followed the girl on foot for a short distance, before the girl met up with a family member, at which point the man got back in his vehicle and left the area.

The man is described as being in his mid-to-late twenties with dark skin, a thick beard, and a heavy accent when speaking.

The vehicle is described as a blue, newer model SUV.
