Regional Police Officer Due To Be Sentenced On Domestic Assault Charges

A suspended Cape Breton Regional Police officer found guilty of assaulting his wife is due back in court today to be sentenced.

Kristopher Karl Planetta’s trial on two counts of assault wrapped up in April and a judge found him guilty on both counts on April 30th.

Planetta’s estranged wife testified during the trial her husband pushed her on one occasion and bruised her arms on another.

He testified he did push his wife, but also says she hit him twice in the face with a closed fist on separate occasions.

Planetta has been released on conditions.
